EMDR

EMDR therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, is a specialized psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals process and heal from emotional distress and traumatic experiences. Bilateral Stimulation: While recalling these distressing memories, individuals engage in bilateral stimulation, which can involve following the therapist's finger movements with their eyes, listening to alternating auditory tones, or feeling physical taps on their hands. This bilateral stimulation is believed to help the brain process and rewire traumatic memories.

  3. Reprocessing: As the bilateral stimulation continues, the goal is to help individuals reprocess their traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge and distressing impact.

  4. Integration: Ultimately, the aim of EMDR therapy is to integrate the traumatic memories into a more adaptive and less distressing narrative, allowing individuals to move forward with their lives.
